Just days after tearing down the stage in a tribute to Prince at the 2016 BET Awards, it has been announced that Jennifer Hudson has signed a new record deal with Epic Records.
Epic Records chairman and CEO L.A. Reid made the announcement about the exclusive deal. Hudson released her past three albums under Arista/J Records and RCA.
Reid will team up with Clive Davis to produce Hudson’s first album under Epic, making it the first project the two have collaborated on in almost 25 years. They last worked together back in 1992 on Whitney Houston’s soundtrack for “The Bodyguard”.
L.A. Reid said, “I’m enjoying collaborating with my friend and mentor Clive Davis on Jennifer’s first Epic album and excited for her fans to hear what we’re up to… all will be revealed soon!”
Clive Davis also added, “I signed Jennifer in 2007 believing her to be the strongest candidate as the next generation’s Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston. She has become that, as LA and I excitingly reunite to capture Jennifer at her all time best.”
This deal definitely sounds exciting, looking forward to some new J Hud classics.
