Last month it was reported that VH1’s Hip Honors would be making it’s return after a six-year hiatus.
This year’s show is paying tribute to the women that made their mark within hip-hop. However, there were no honorees that we’re announced, until now.
It has been confirmed that Queen Latifah is one of the honorees of this years award show. She will also serve as executive producer of the show through her entertainment company Flavor Unit.
The “Ladies First” rapper secured her spot as a hip-hop pioneer with the release of her debut album back in 1989.
This is yet another collaboration between VH1 and Latifah following the one-hour special, “Dear Mama”, which aired earlier this year on Mother’s Day.
Past honorees include Salt-N-Peppa, LL Cool J, Snoop Dogg and a host of others.
VH1 Hip Honors air live on July 11th from New York City.
Roommates will you be tuned in?
