The current water crisis in Flint, Michigan has left residents struggling to stay hydrated and healthy while cooking their food and even bathing. Of course many celebrities and non-celebrities have joined forces in order to bring help to this city and one of the latest to get involved is Russell Simmons! In April, he along with his RushCard company, partnered with Flint Community Grocery in order to make healthy food accessible to this community.
“Flint Community Grocery is a local initiative to provide access to better quality wholesome and organic food products to the residents of Flint, Michigan,” the Michigan Chronicle wrote. “Fresh Start CDC is a non-profit organization that was established in 2014 by New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church to enhance economic development in Flint and surrounding communities by providing a one-stop model to enhance the availability of nutritional foods and preventative healthcare for residents of north Flint.”
Today, Simmons and his team were back at it again at New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church (1605 W. Carpenter Rd. Flint, MI 48505). As you can see, the residents appreciate the pop-ups and many more will take place soon. Stay tuned, Roommates!
