Freedia’s lawyer has released a statement saying,“As we have acknowledged, this is an incredibly unfortunate situation for which my client unequivocally accepts responsibility. Freedia has cooperated with the government at every stage of their investigation and her guilty plea today is another step forward in putting this matter behind us.”
Freedia was charged earlier this month after lying about her income on her Section 8 application. She attributed the “oversight” to being financially illiterate and wishes to advocate for programs that teach rappers and artists the basic principles of finance and planning.
