As viewers from all across the globe are watching Porsha Williams make her premiere on The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip, she’s taking a moment to speak on some past matters pertaining to The Real Housewives of Atlanta!
Porsha Williams Declares She Didn’t Leave To Avoid Backlash
During a sit-down with PEOPLE, Porsha acknowledged how—while she’s ecstatic to be back on television—there are definitely some parts that’ll “sting you a little bit!”
One such example is the speculation that surrounded Porsha after she entered a relationship with Simon Guobadia, who was introduced on the show while being married to Falynn Pina during Season 13.
Notably, Falynn was brought onto RHOA as “Porsha’s friend,” and there were initially rumors about Porsha snatching her now-husband from her. While Simon and Falynn were separated by the time he got together with Porsha, the matter still brought about speculation that Williams left the show to avoid facing backlash over her relationship.

However, Porsha says that this isn’t the case at all.
“I wasn’t running away. And I don’t think any of my followers who truly knew me would believe that I would run away from the show for that.”
Porsha Reveals She Left To ‘Reassess’ How She Was Moving
After clarifying that she “wasn’t running away” from nay-sayers, she doubled down by proclaiming that she’s “dealt with a lot of harsh things on the show” and always shown up to face the music.
“I’ve dealt with a lot of harsh things on the show,” Williams recalls to PEOPLE. “And I’ve been there at the beginning of every season to film, with the camera on. So no, this had nothing to do with that.”
Additionally, Porsha pointed out that she was determined to leave the show “long before” she and Simon became acquainted.
“I had already decided that it was time for me to step away at least six months before I told any of the executives what I was going to do—and long before I even met my now-husband.”
As for the reasoning behind her departure, Porsha explained that—as she was nearing her 10-year mark on the hit Bravo series—she “just had to reassess” what she wanted.
“I was turning 40, I was hitting my 10-year mark on the show, and I really just had to reassess where I was and what I wanted totally out of my life. So that’s where that decision came from.”
She then wrapped up by noting that being on RHUGT “was like a fresh start.”
