50 Cent continues to make power moves on and off the screen. He recently signed a new four year overall deal with Starz.
According to Variety, under the agreement, 50 will continue to develop new scripted and unscripted series for the network through his G-Unit Film & Television Inc.
The new deal reportedly includes a “three-series commitment, the addition of a dedicated development executive, and a discretionary fund for use in developing G-Unit projects.” Sources familiar with the agreement told the site that the new deal could prove to be worth as much as $150 million.
50 said in a statement, “I am excited to announce that we’ve made that partnership between myself, G-Unit Film & Television and Starz/Lionsgate and we will continue our proven track record of breaking records and delivering unique content for audiences around the world … Get The Strap.”
He also acknowledged that when he sat down with Chris Albrecht, the CEO of Starz, Albrecht let him know that he was requesting one of the biggest deals in premium cable history.
50 Cent and G-Unit already have two new projects in active development over at Starz, “Black Mafia Family” and “Vanguard.”
According to the synopsis “Black Mafia Family” is “inspired by the story of Demetrius ‘Big Meech’ Flenory, takes place at the intersection of the drug industry and the music industry.”
“Vanguard,” follows “the story of Blake Megaton, a recent ex-Navy SEAL, who is forced to return home to Long Beach and face his gangster beginnings in order to defend his family’s criminal trucking empire from the violent drug cartel that is now trying to wipe it out.”
We all know that 50 also starred on Starz hit series “Power,” and serves as an executive producer on the show. Back in September, we talked with the show’s creator Courtney A. Kemp, who let us know she was excited to continue working with 50 behind the camera, although his character Kanan was killed off in the latest season.
Congrats to 50 Cent on his new deal and always securing the bag!
