Comedy Writer To Introduce A Parody Children’s Book That Features A Black Santa Clause In A Same-Sex Interracial Relationship

2017 has definitely been the year of inclusion especially when it comes to sexuality. From male Covergirls to unisex fashion lines and now a gay Santa Clause.

Yes you read that right, author Daniel Kibblesmith, who is also the comedy writer on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” will be dropping a new parody children’s book that will feature Kris Kringle as a black man in an interracial, same-sex relationship.

According to the Huffington Post, the book will highlight Santa’s day to day at the North Pole while his white husband also aides him.

Kibblesmith says his Santa inspiration comes from Christmas last year after he saw the heat that Mall of America caught for introducing a Black Santa to it’s shoppers.
“My fiancée [author Jennifer Wright] and I joked privately, and then on Twitter, that since every house has its own traditions and lore surrounding Christmas, we would tell our child that the black Santa Claus was the ‘real’ Santa,” he said. “If they saw a white Santa at the mall, we’d explain that this was his husband.”

Daniel even teased the book back in December:

The attention that it recieved helped the birth of new Santa as he realized, “there was genuine interest in this book becoming a reality.”
At the end of the day, Kibblesmith hopes that readers will take away that Santa Clause is left to be created by our own imaginations and traditions.

“Some people — not me — even believe that Santa Claus is just your parents, which would mean that there are as many interpretations of Santa Claus as there are different kinds of families,” he quipped. “But again, this is only a theory, because Santa Claus is real, and we have written a book about him.”
