As the Power Rangers remake sees success in the box office, one of the originals will be seeing a jail cell for stabbing his roommate to death back in 2015.
Ricardo Medina Jr. was sentenced to six years behind bars today for stabbing his roommate to death. Medina, who played the Red Lion Wild Force Ranger on “Power Rangers Wild Force” in 2002, plead guilty to voluntary manslaughter after claiming he used his sword in self-defense.
The actor’s initial charge was first-degree murder but his attorney decided to plead to a lesser charge rather than risk life in prison.
Many family members gave emotional statements on condemning Medina, who also appeared in “CSI: Miami” and “ER,” for his actions.
“Put this killer in general (prison) population so he will see and feel the same fear that Joshua must have felt,” the 36-year-old victim’s father, Donald Sutter, said according to the NY Post.
According to reports, Medina had gotten into an argument with Joshua Sutter back on Jan. 31, 2015 over the actor’s girlfriend. Apparently, Medina had retreated to his bedroom before locking the door. Sutter then followed him and kicked in the door causing Medina to stab him with his sword.
