As some of you may know, Gladys Knight has been trying to remove her name from Gladys Knight’s Chicken and Waffles!
She originally filed a lawsuit in August 2016 against her son, Shanga Hankerson, who owns all three locations under the brand. She demanded that Shanga stops using her name and likeness when it comes to the restaurants.
Apparently, the numbers weren’t doing the best and she wasn’t here for her son’s ongoing legal woes.
Well, that whole ordeal has been settled, and it has been confirmed by the store’s general manager, Tammy Caldwell that the store’s new name is in place, and logos and signage are on the way!
Perhaps that court order should be held because the restaurant had yet another run-in with the Georgia Department of Revenue. We hear that their agents pulled the plug Thursday over sales tax, which he has yet to pay the balance off of.
Earlier this month, we reported on how the restaurant was shut down for failing inspection. It later re-opened after a re-inspection
The good news is that if he pays off those fines, his license can be reinstated.
It looks like Gladys pulled out right on time!
