The 2017 Super Bowl is days away, and everyone is taking their bets on whether or not the Atlanta Falcons will come out as the champions, or if the New England Patriots will take the title again after winning back in 2015.
Besides the game itself, each year millions of people tune in to see who will slay the Halftime Show performance. Throughout the years some legendary artists have hit the stage to provide the entertainment.
This year Lady Gaga will be hitting the stage, but before she does, let’s run down a list of some of the best Halftime Show performances throughout the years.
1: Michael Jackson: Back in 1993, the King of Pop Michael Jackson tore down the halftime stage with his classic hits, “Billie Jean,” and “Black or White.” He also ended his performance off with a positive message by performing “We Are The World,” and “Heal The World.” His wardrobe even inspired Beyoncé’s 2016 halftime performance.

2: Beyoncé & Destiny’s Child: Remember back in 2013 when the Super Bowl turned out to be a Beyoncé concert? She hit the stage and took us down memory lane with some of her classic hits, but she had a surprise for her fans when she reunited Destiny’s Child back on stage. The group dismantled back in 2006, but for one night we got to see them perform hits such as “Bootylicious,” and “Independent Woman Pt.1” And let’s not forget that after they shut down the stage, all of the lights went out in the Superdome.
Not to mention that was not their first time shutting down the football field. Check out this dope performance from 2004 during a Dallas Cowboys game on Thanksgiving.
3: Coldplay/ Beyoncé/ Bruno Mars: Coldplay gave a memorable performance back in 2016 as they performed some of their well-known hits such as “Viva La Vida,” “Yellow,” and “Paradise.” Things definitely started to heat up when Beyoncé and Bruno Mars joined them to perform a mash-up of their hits, “Formation,” and “Uptown Funk.”
4: Janet Jackson & Justin Timberlake: In 2004 the Halftime show featured multiple artists such as Diddy, Nelly and Kid Rock. However, the most memorable moment from that particular show came from Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake. The two were on stage to perform Justin’s song, “Rock Your Body,” and as we all know the performance ended with Justin ripping too much of Janet’s top off and exposing her right boob to millions of people throughout the world.
5: Prince: Prince turned the whole Dolphin stadium purple back in 2007 as he took to the stage to perform some of his hits like, “Let’s Go Crazy,” “Baby I’m A Star,” “Proud Mary,” and of course “Purple Rain,” along with a few others. This performance would go down as one of Prince’s most classic performances because he literally made it rain.

However, her performance became even bigger when she had Missy Elliot join her on stage as a surprise guest. Missy performed her classics, “Get Your Freak On,” “Work It,” and “Lose Control.” Missy’s appearance helped boost her record sales after a long musical hiatus.
7: Bruno Mars: Before sharing the stage with Beyoncé and Coldplay in 2016, Bruno Mars held it down and headlined the 2014 Halftime Show. Performing his singles “Billionaire,” “Locked Out Of Heaven,” “Treasure,” and “Just The Way You Are,” with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He performance definitely proved his talents.
