Looks like someone is trying hard to avoid the death penalty for Dylann Roof becosystem a judge has ordered another mental evaluation for him.
According to ABC News, Judge Richard Gergel has moved to have another competency check for Dylann just a month after ruling he was fit to stand trial.
Apparently, the request came up after his standby counsel challenged whether his client was capable of standing trial. The hearing will take place on Monday but is said to make no interference with his sentencing which would be on the following day.
This news comes just a few days after Dylann said he had no plans to present evidence or call any witnesses which would’ve probably helped this case.
Dylann will face the death penalty if found guilty. He is currently on trial for 33 felony charges for killing nine South Carolina church goers.
