Yesterday was a day of giving thanks and Andy Cohen revealed why he has an extra reason to be thankful to his friend Kelly Ripa.
The pair hosted today’s episode of “Live with Kelly” where Andy opened up about his bout with skin cancer and how Kelly ultimately saved his life.
Apparently, Kelly and her husband had noticed a dark spot on Cohen’s lip and urged him to seek medical attention. They were spot on because it turned out to be the most dangerous kind of skin cancer, melanoma.
“I had a black dot on my bottom lip and you and I were at a party for Anderson’s [Cooper] mom in April, and you said, ‘You have a black dot on your lip, I don’t think that’s something good,’” Cohen told Ripa on-air.
“It was melanoma and they removed it, and I just want to thank you because you were so dogmatic,” he continued. “… The lip heals very well and I really had a chunk removed out of it.”
The Bravo host also admitted that he was an excessive tanner but his skin cancer discovery changed his bad habits.
“I am tanorexic, I love the sun. And I of course never thought that kind of thing would happen to me, and it will change my relationship to the sun,” Cohen said.
