It is no secret that Donald Trump is not too popular among the African American community. Therefore, he recently sat down with Bob Johnson, the founder of BET, to think of ways for everyone to come to a common ground.
Johnson talked with CNBC, to talk about the recent meeting with Trump, which took place on Sunday.
After their meeting, Johnson said that African Americans need to give Donald Trump the, “the benefit of the doubt.”
He also mentioned that instead of Trump asking the African American community “what do they have to lose?” He should be asking, “what do African Americans have to gain from his presidency?”
Johnson said, “Trump is a business guy, and I think he’s going to tilt towards finding a way to use fiscal policy … to move the economy forward. Let’s give him a shot. Let’s give him the benefit of the doubt; see if we can find common ground.”
As Trump continues to try to build his administration, it was asked whether or not Johnson would possibly join him. But he quickly shot down the idea and said he never wanted to be in government.
