This tea is just too hot! A couple days ago news broke that Prince’s estate rejected Jay Z’s 40 million dollar bid for Prince’s unreleased music. After rejecting Jay they decided to get him together real quick and let him know that they never gave him permission to stream Prince’s albums on Tidal shortly after his death. Well it seems Prince’s estate just isn’t here for Jay because his label is suing his company, Roc Nation, for copyright infringement.
According to TMZ, NPG Records sent legal papers over to Roc Nation for violating an initial agreement Prince signed before he passed away. Apparently Prince only signed off to stream his last album “Hit N Run: Phase 1.”
The problem came when Tidal released almost all of Prince’s albums on June 7, 2016, shortly after his passing.
The record label claims that they never authorized Roc Nation to do that, just his last album.
This is going to get pretty interesting.
