Social media is dragging the director of a West Virginia development company after she posted a racist Facebook status towards Michelle Obama, but it’s the person who commented that really has the internet heated!
Clay County Development Corporation director Pamela Ramsey Taylor decided to take her excitement for the Trumps winning the White House a bit too far when she posted, “It will be refreshing to have a classy, beautiful, dignified First Lady in the White House. I’m tired of seeing a Ape in heels.”
Well the Clay County Mayor Beverly Whaling seemed to be here for the message because she replied to the post saying, “Just made my day Pam.”
Girl bye!
Anyways, the backlash was inevitable as many called for their resignations. A petition was started earlier today and had already gathered over 10,000 signatures.
Well it looks like their voices were heard because an NBC affiliate is reporting that Taylor has since been placed on leave at her job and apparently her post is being investigated as a hate crime as she claims she and her family are receiving death threats. Apparently, she isn’t sure if she will lose her office because of this but is seeking to take legal action against those who slandered her name.
Seriously…?
The mayor on the other hand has released an apology where she claims her response wasn’t meant to be taken negatively.
“I would like to apologize for any unintentional harm caused by my comment,” Ms. Whaling said in a statement. “My comment was not intended to be racist at all. I was referring to my day being made for the change in the White House! I am truly sorry for any hard feeling this may have caused! Those who know me, know that I am not in any way racist! Again, I would like to apologize for this getting out of hand!”
The post has since been deleted along with Taylor’s Facebook.
Lets chat below, do you think both women should lose their jobs?
