An American Airlines plane caught on fire at O’Hare International Airport, sending at least 20 people to the hospital with minor injuries.
According to NBC Chicago, Flight 333 was departing at O’Hare and was in route to Miami when it experienced “a problem during takeoff.” Apparently one of the engines malfunctioned.
The fire was a result of the engine failure that wasn’t properly contained.
Passengers were immediately evacuated and according to Timothy Sampey, from the Chicago Fire department, majority of the injuries came from the evacuation down slides. Some of the injuries consisted of “minor bruising and ankle injuries, according to Juan Hernandez, district chief of EMS.
Thankfully no one suffered any life threatening injuries!
