Halloween 2k16 has definitely been a very eventful day this year because everyone seems to be killing it in their costumes! While some enjoy a nice but terrifying night out on the town, many like myself are left to celebrate at home. Well, all is not lost if you can’t bring the horror because the horror can also just come to you! If you choose to just Netflix and chill for the night, here’s a list (in no particular order) of some pretty scary or equally gory movies that will be sure to bring a night of screams!
1.The Babadook
The Babadook is centered around a widowed mother and her son who becomes terrorized by an evil entity that was brought to life after she read the wrong bedtime children’s book. The Australian film debuted back in 2014 and is still the talk of Netflix as it brings a child’s worse nightmare to life.
2. V/H/S/2
Horror movies nowadays seem to always stem from a couple poking their noses where they don’t belong and V/H/S/2 is no different. After a student goes missing, a couple stumbles upon a series of video tapes that narrate some pretty horrific stories.
3. The Human Centipede Series
The Human Centipede has always been a movie to see if you have the stomach for it. It follows a crazy surgeon who decides to stitch human beings ( we’re talking sewing mouths to butts literally…its pretty gory) together to satisfy his scientific thirst for his human centipede creation.
4.Hush
This movie its especially interesting because it follows a deaf woman who lost her hearing when she was younger and a creep stalker who uses the woman’s disability against her. He begins to terrorize the woman who quickly realizes that she isn’t alone.
5.A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night
The people of a dreary Iranian town unknowingly live amongst a female vampire. The black and white film follows the mysterious vampire, who acts like a vigilante of sorts since she only has a thirst for men who she considers “bad” but she also gets a chance at love for the first time.
6.Last Shift
A rookie cop is in for the scare of her life, when she is assigned to the last shift at a closing police station for her first shift on the job. She isn’t allowed to leave under any circumstances but she quickly realizes that the kind of cult like and evil presence that lives within the station make it easier said then done!
7.Pontypool
What was supposed to be a regular day at work for one Canadian radio DJ turns into a fight for life after a virus outbreak begins turning people into zombies. He barricades himself at his radio station and must find a way to effectively communicate to others in order to save as many lives as possible.
8.The Chosen
The Chosen follows a family trying to save a young girl who has a demonic spirit attached to her. Her family tries their best to send the demon back to where it came from.
9.You’re Next
A classic family gathering turned gory blood bath, You’re Next is about am estranged siblings who came together to celebrate their parents’ wedding anniversary but they quickly realize that they are being stalked by serial killers in animal masks after they invade their house.
10.Would You Rather
Haven’t your mother told you to be careful of what you wish for? Well clearly, the young woman who this movie is centered around didn’t listen! Would You Rather depicts a woman desperate to help her sick brother unknowingly signs her soul to the devil (figuratively) by joining in on a sadistic game.
11.We Are What We Are
After a rain storm washes up human remains, an investigation into the secret lives of a family who believe in keeping ancient sadistic traditions unravels that many didn’t know the kind of family they truly live amongst.
12. The Invitation
A man is paranoid that his ex wife and her new husband may be up to something dark and sinister after he is invited to a dinner at his former home.
13. Honeymoon
As if the honeymoon phase isn’t short enough, the film Honeymoon follows a couple who was recently married and decided to take their honeymoon to the woods. Things quickly go left after something sinister happens in the wood with his wife.
