Social media was heated when Amy Schumer decided to create her own parody of Beyonce’s hit song “Formation” and lets just say it was an unwanted gift that keeps on giving.
The parody is being slammed for cultural appropriation after the comedian featured herself in a sweaty and dirty dress alongside Goldie Hawn. Wanda Sykes, Joan Cusack and Raven Goodwin also made lip-syncing cameos in the video that was ironically released on Tidal.
Of course as Twitter saw it, Schumer was accused of being insensitive of today’s racial climate:
There is no possible excuse for @AmySchumer not to know the cultural significance of #Formation for black women.I hope this hurts her career

Welp, Amy decided to respond to the backlash with more “Formation” lyrics:
Yeah, not quite the apology Black Twitter was looking for and too bad she didn’t stop there either. She posted another video to her Instagram on Monday where she stated, “I’m going to bed. I just wanna say, I’m sober first of all. I’m tired, a lot of work today,” she said in a video post. “I’m grateful, I’m grateful for all this sh*t. I’m grateful to be alive right now during this time. I hope you have a good night too.”
Either way word on the street is Jay Z’s people gave Amy the green light of the video, so may be theres a silver lining? Check out the video below and tell us what you think:
