Marvel Pulls J. Scott Campbell’s ‘Iron Man’ Cover Amid Backlash

Marvel announced earlier this year that the new ‘Iron Man’ will be a 15-year-old Black girl. The company recently released the artwork of the super hero and and let’s just say not everyone is feeling her look.

According to LoveBScott, a lot of women took to social media to voice their opinion over the new “Invincible Iron Man” hero RiRi Williams. Apparently her “tight midriff bearing tank-top and low-cut black pants,” is too much for them to handle.

One Twitter user tweeted,

“Love seeing children sexualized on comics. But you know, black girls are FAST, so it’s fine. ://end sarcasm.”.

What’s interesting about this is that Marvel Comics said that the cover art of Riri Williams was only meant to be sold at Midtown Comics but after all the commotion that this has caused they’ve decided to just not even publish it anymore.

“The variant cover features our new Iron Man character Riri Williams and was due to come in two varieties — one with the character in her Iron Man armor, and one in street clothes,” the company stated.

Now the artist who drew the Riri felt some type of way and claims that’s what he was asked to do!

“Hmmm … This is the character I was asked to draw, people understand that, right? Is it THAT different? #nonconroversy #movealong,” he wrote.

Thoughts #Roommates?
