Looks like Derrick Rose’s rape case just took a left turn as the LAPD has confirmed that an active criminal investigation has begun.
According to Complex, news broke today after his accuser’s lawyers had requested that their client remain anonymous. Apparently, the request was accompanied with a letter of an LAPD detective confirming criminal investigation, which also stated that releasing the victim’s name would hurt the investigation.

Trial begins October 4th, the same day the new Knicks point guard is set to face off against the Houston Rockets.
“I ain’t do anything wrong,” Rose answered when asked about the new development during Knicks’ Media Day. “I’ve been handling it pretty good, I think. “I really haven’t been thinking about it. I’m thinking more about the team more than anything.”
Derrick’s accuser filed a civil suit back in 2015 claiming that Derrick Rose and two of his homeboys who she identifies as Ryan Allen and Randall Hampton, gang raped her. She has since asked for $21.5 million in damages.
“I’m not familiar with the law, ” his accuser said according to HNHH.com. “I didn’t know the difference between civil and criminal and all the different concepts and language of the law. But I knew that if I came forward to the police, my identity would be revealed and I would have no control of the case and what was required of me.”
When asked if he would consider settling Rose responded:
