Iman Shumpert was reportedly arrested last month after police stopped him for a traffic violation.
According to Complex, the Cavaliers forward was stopped for making a lane violation and was arrested after he was suspected of driving under the influence on August 10.
TMZ also reports that police documented that Iman smelled of weed and confessed to smoking it at some point before being stopped on the original police report.
The Cavaliers have since released a statement detailing that they are aware of Iman’s current legal situation:
Cavaliers guard Iman Shumpert was arrested by Fayette County (GA) Police outside Atlanta for suspicion of DUI following an August 10th traffic stop for a lane violation. The Cavaliers have discussed the situation with Iman and will monitor the progression of the pending case. A court date has not been set at this point, and neither Iman or the team will have any additional comments while the matter progresses through the legal process.
As for now, the details surrounding Iman’s arrest is being kept on the hush hush but word is he could face game suspensions. Hopefully everything works out for the best!
