Kodak Black fans were disappointed when his release was pushed back last week after two new warrants were discovered.
According to Brett Clarkson of the Sun Sentinel, the rapper, whose real name is Dieuson Octave, is now facing misdemeanor marijuana and drug paraphernalia charges as well as felony sexual battery charges.
Apparently the sexual battery charges stemmed from a situation that happened in a Comfort Suites hotel room back on February 7th.
“According to investigators, on or about February 7, 2016, Octave is alleged to have engaged in the sexual battery of the victim at a hotel located at 2120 West Lucas Street, Florence, SC,” Florence County Sheriff’s Office spokesman, Major Michael M. Nunn, wrote in an email.
Kodak had a performance at Club Compound, which is 15 minutes from where sexual misconduct allegedly took place, just the day before. His appearance also happened to be the same weekend as Francis Marion University’s homecoming.
While the nature of these charges are still unknown, the Sun Sentinel offered various reasons behind why he could’ve possibly caught the case.
“In South Carolina, a criminal sexual conduct charge can occur under a number of circumstances. A victim could be forced to have sex through aggravated force, during a kidnapping or while physically helpless due to the influence of a controlled substance. The crime carries a punishment of up to 30 years in prison,” the Sun Sentinel states.
The news comes as Kodak had been set to be released after serving 91 days in prison for armed robbery and false imprisonment.
