U.S. Olympic Swimmer Jimmy Feigen To Pay $11,000 To A Brazilian Charity In Robbery Scandal; Ryan Lochte Apologizes

Looks like U.S. Olympic swimmers Ryan Lochte and Jimmy Feign are feeling the burn after news broke that they along with swimming mates  lied about being robbed in Rio de Janeiro just to cover up a gas station brawl that took place.

Ryan Lochte took to his Instagram early this morning to deliver a statement where he apologizes “for not being more careful and candid” in describing how things really went down.

Unlike Lochte, three of the other swimmers; Jimmy Feign,Gunnar Bentz, and Jack Congar  who also lied about the incident are all still stuck in Brazil as authorities conduct a thorough investigation. Bentz and Congar were able to come back home Thursday afternoon after questioning.

Unfortunately for Lochte and Feigen, both were charged with false reporting a crime which could hold heavy penalties. Since Lochte is already back in the U.S., Feigen’s charge was supposed to keep him in Brazil longer but luckily his lawyer has apparently struck a deal that may help him get back to the States a little sooner. According to ABC News, authorities will allow Feign to return back to U.S. if he agrees to give an $11,000 donation to a Brazilian charity called Reaction Institute.

Reaction Institute was created in 2003 by Olympic medalist Flavio Canto in 2003 in order to promote child development and social inclusion through the use of judo. According to Complex, boxer Ronda Rousey donated $35,000 to the same organization last year.

As for now Lochte seems to be in the clear since there is no word on extradition but Brazil is till leaving the option open to having all four swimmers charged. Hopefully all parties involved learned their lesson! Lets chat below!
