Hey Roommates! It’s time to address the elephant in the room –MONDAY—sweet Monday!
Do you wake up every Monday morning and say to yourself, “Ugh, it’s Monday AGAIN,” as if Sunday Jr. follows Sunday? Yes we know, Monday symbolizes the start of a long work week and the end of an extremely short weekend turn up.
Well your Monday’s doesn’t have to always suck! With just five easy tips, your Mondays can become a smaller pill to swallow!
Take Monday out of the Friend Zone! – We ALL know how the friend zone works; you send someone there who you feel just won’t make the cut however they have potential to stay around, to an extent. Let’s just remove Monday from that zone all together! Try and give Monday a fair chance to impress you instead of assuming it isn’t worthy of your starting line-up, like you do Friday! You don’t friend zone Friday do you? No! You make plans for it, look forward to it, and even count down the days until you meet again. Who says Monday doesn’t deserve that effort just because it’s the start of a new week.
Start your Monday off positive – Don’t even go into it with your usual Monday stigma. Start off your Sunday evening with positive thoughts about Monday. And when you wake up Monday morning, eat a good breakfast, drink your favorite tea, and compile yourself a Monday morning playlist that is nothing but upbeat, feel good music and ride that wave all the way to work.
Schedule something that is worth looking forward to! – We usually countdown to Friday because we have plans or we are really looking forward to the start of weekend festivities. Monday doesn’t have to be boring we just make it that way. Try adding something to your Monday agenda that will have you looking forward to it during the weekend! You can consider happy hour with your girls, date night with your boo, or even a Monday Mystery Jar (write down spontaneous activities to do on separate pieces of paper, fold the papers up and throw them in the jar. Sunday night, pick a paper out of the jar and make that your Monday activity).
Dress for success! It’s been proven that when we dress up, we have a better energy about ourselves. Studies have proven this through instances such as tackling test day anxieties. We are going to go out on a limb and say the same would apply to Monday. Wear a new pair of shoes, try some new makeup and dress like your day is depending on it…because it is!
Finally, start your day off with some good hot tea…from The Shade Room! We love serving our roommates hot, quality tea! Y’all know we have tea by the layers, all different flavors so take advantage of that during your Monday morning warm up.
