Raudha Athif, 21, gained recognition when she graced the cover of Vogue India in October 2016.
Unfortunately, Athif was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her dorm room at Islami Bank Medical College in Bangladesh on Wednesday.
According to the New York Post, it is believed that Athi, who was in her second year, committed suicide; her friends found her body. One of the friends cut the scarf from which the model was hanging from and took her down.
Police reported that her friends initially thought she was still alive.
The superintendent reportedly told the Daily Star that Athif “always looked happy” and “it is hard to believe she would commit suicide.”
Back in 2016 Athif, along with other models, posed for Vogue’s “Beauty In Diversity,” shoot. During a Q&A, Athif said, “Modelling is a hobby rather than a career for me. Becoming a doctor to help people has always been my dream.”
An autopsy will confirm Athif’s official cause of death.
We send our condolences to the family of Raudha Athif.
