ATTORNEY JAILED FOR REFUSING TO REMOVE BLACK LIVES MATTER BUTTON

Youngstown, Ohio Judge Robert Milich reportedly held attorney Andrea Burton in contempt, and placed her in jail for 5 days for refusing to remove her Black Lives Matter button in court.

According to WKBN, local attorneys are working towards putting together a motion to have the judge’s order put on hold so it can be argued in court.

“There have been cases in the past when people have been given contempt of court for refusing to comply with a judges’ order to remove an article of clothing that may have a message on it.” Said American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio senior policy director Mike Brickner.

“Many times this has been done to retain the defendant’s right to a fair trial” he added.

Roommates, do you think that was a reasonable request of the judge to ask of Andrea Burton? In addition, do you think being placed in jail for 5 days was a fair punishment of the court? Let’s chat!
