France is left in anguish once again after another suspected terrorist attack hit the city of Nice. According to CNN, 73 people are dead and many more were wounded when a truck drove into a crowd celebrating Bastille Day.
There is little to go on as of right now but reports do say that the man behind the wheel was shot to death after he accelerated his tractor-trailer into the crowd along Nice’s main street, Boulevard des Anglais. Authorities say firearms, explosives and grenades were recovered from the truck as well.
Christian Estrosi, the head of the regional council of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, released a statement saying,”Dear Nice residents, the driver of a truck appears to have caused tens of deaths. Stay for the moment in your homes. More info to come.”
Video of the attack hit social media and the images are gruesome. Below you can see the video of the tractor running into the crowd of people.
One witness says that there was “a ton of people on the ground and on the sidewalk.” “You could see someone with a bike or a wheelchair and someone with a bag full of flowers, innocent and normal people on the beach.”
And if this isn’t all many thought that France was hit with a second attack in Paris after a truck full of fireworks exploded near the Eiffel Tower just moments after the Nice incident. Luckily it wasn’t linked to the attack that took place in Nice but is being blamed on a technical malfunction.
Facebook has since activated its safe check in feature for all people looking for family and friends. We will keep you updated on the story as more info becomes available.
