ELENA, DISNEY’S FIRST LATIN PRINCESS

Disney will be introducing their first Latina Princess in a new animated TV series, “Elena of Avalor.”

The voice of Elena will be by Aimee Carrero, whose father is Puerto Rican, and her mother is of Dominican decent.

The series will tell stories that draw on the traditions, foods, and customs of Latin and Hispanic cultures.

Some of these customs include mythology, folklore, and of course a number salsa, and Banda songs, in addition to other styles of Latin music.

Aimee Carrero says that because there is no ‘Prince Charming’ in the series, she hopes that people will be inspired by Elena’s sense of self, her confidence, and her leadership.

According to Good Morning America, the series focuses on the adventures of Elena, who is a brave, and adventurous teenager who has saved her kingdom from an eveil sorceress, and will have to learn how to rule as a princess, until she is old enough to become the Queen.

We are definitely here for a Latin princess Roommates. What are some other princesses you hope Disney presents to us in the future?
