Every action has a reaction, especially when you put police brutality and African American men in the same category. Model, Mischa Barton had a few words of her own, but her audience on social media didn’t take it very well .
As many celebrities spoke up about the senseless killings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile that occurred earlier in the week, supermodels like Barton are paying tribute to what seems to be an on-going battle that won’t fully end.
According to Page Six, Barton took her active words to Instagram with a picture of her relaxing on a boat with a glass in her hand and eyes closed in her bikini to say: “I’m truly heart broken to watch videos like the #altonsterling execution. This may have been going on forever in the [US] but thank god the pigs get caught on camera now.”
Once Barton referred to cops as “pigs” people didn’t react so well.
Barton later apologized on Twitter to say: “I’m human I’m not perfect and I’m sorry if my Instagram post went out of context I didn’t mean to offend anyone.”
Even though she apologized, people on Twitter still aren’t buying it. Some are referring to her comments as “gross” and feel that once she’d put the information out for everyone to see, it can’t be erased. “calling the police “pigs” does not = having your (heart) in the right place, it’s ignorant AF and only adds to the problem,” @diamondsqueaker responded on Twitter.
What are your thoughts roommates?
