#Roommates, it’s that time of year again, as the nominees for the 2020 Billboard Music Awards have just been announced! While it’s been a very big year for hip hop and R&B, there were a few artists who managed to rack up several nominations—specifically Lil Nas X and Kanye West, who are two of the year’s most nominated artists.
@Billboard reports, first-time nominee Lil Nas X received a staggering13 nominations for his record-breaking hit “Old Town Road.” He’s nominated for Top New Artist, Top Male Artist, Top 100 Artist, Top Streaming Songs Artist, Top Rap Artist and Top Male Rap Artist, just to name a few. Meanwhile, Kanye West also has a lot to celebrate, as his chart-topping gospel album “Jesus Is King” garnered some major love from the Billboard voters.
Kanye scored nine nominations in Billboard Christian categories including Top Christian Artist, Top Gospel Artist, Top Christian Album, Top Gospel Album and Top Christian Song. That’s not all, as Ye will also compete against himself West for Top Gospel Song, in which “Closed on Sunday,” “Follow God,” “On God” and “Selah” are all nominated in that category. Other artists who received nominations this year, include DaBaby, Roddy Rich, Lizzo, Khalid, Drake, Chris Brown, Summer Walker and The Weeknd. You can check out the complete list of nominees on Billboard.com.
Kelly Clarkson will once again host the Billboard Music Awards, which will broadcast live from The Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Wednesday, October 14th at 8:00 p.m. ET on NBC.
This year’s awards are based on the chart period of March 23, 2019 through March 14, 2020, which was intended to be originally scheduled on April 29,2020, but postponed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
