Roommates, we are sending our prayers to the loved ones of Oluwatoyin Salau, the 19-year-old activist from Tallahassee, FL was confirmed deceased by family members early Monday. On the day that Salau went missing, she took to Twitter to reveal that she had been sexually assaulted.
According to USA Today, family members say Salau was found deceased on Saturday after she had been reported missing back on June 6th. Authorities confirmed that she was one of two homicide victims that had been discovered Saturday night. The other victim was identified as Victoria “Vicki” Sims, 75. Police have identified Aaron Glee Jr., 49, as the suspect.
Court documents show that Glee was arrested on a charge of aggravated battery causing bodily harm or disability. Three days after Salau was reported missing, he was reportedly arrested again for battery.
Social media has been flooded with photos and videos of Salau at recent Black Lives Matter protests in Tallahassee, FL, as people have demanded that justice is served when it comes to her death.
Danaya Hemphill, a friend of Salau, said, “I had a feeling that we were not going to find Toyin alive. Toyin was very passionate. She was very vocal she was very loving, very spiritual, very caring.”
