After Makonnen kinda sorta broke the Internet with his recent weight loss transformation and his smash-hit ‘Tuesday’. The rapper is making headlines again, but this time concerning his music.
Billboard dropped some news on us today that might take you by surprise. The ‘Tuesday’ rapper, iLoveMakonnen has just recently left Drake’s label, OVO Sounds, and has joined forces with Warner Bros.
According to Complex, Makonnen shed some light about an hour ago on what’s going on. “I cannot thank OVO, 40, Oliver, Future & Mr. Morgan, enough for all that they have done for my career. No words
can express how much I appreciate Drake for being a part of the success of Tuesday.”, he continues, “I’m sure the haters will have something negative to say, but all in all my choice to be solely on
Warner Bros Records was the right thing for me and for my best interest. Sorry there’s no beef to report, DRINK MORE WATER.”
Makonnen signed with OVO in 2014 originally, but things seemed a little rocky between the label and the artist when the Atlanta rapper told Fader, “It’s cool, they put out my music and stuff and we just
keep it moving. Let them tell you their relationship with Makonnen.” Hm, we peep some major shade on this end.
Even with the label change, Makonnen has still been pushing out his music, regardless via Soundcloud and other mediums and his getting ready to go on tour this summer with rapper, Lil’ B!
