Erykah Badu Speaks Out About Young Girls and Their Apparel at School
Erykah Badu took to Twitter to express her concerns about school girls and their length of their skirts but Twitter wasn’t having it!
Erykah tweeted a thread of advice for high school girls who she feels need to lower their skirts “so male teachers are not distracted.” She says she agrees with this ideology because she’s aware that we live in a sex driven society and thinks it’s everyone’s responsibility to protect young ladies. She went on to say that it’s not them [the young ladies] that do anything wrong but because of the imbalance in society it’s smart to be aware and awake.
Some people on Twitter and other social media disagreed with Erykah’s viewpoint because they feel that young men should be taught to now think of women sexually in inappropriate settings and times. Twitter users talked about how if a male teacher can’t not teach because of a young woman’s skirt length then he shouldn’t be teaching at all and others talked about how in countries around the world, women are required to be covered head to toe due to religion and other things and still are raped at alarming rates. Others brought up her previous videos where she herself appeared in little to no clothes.
Erykah clapped back at multiple people that disagreed with her on Twitter but also encouraged the dialogue.
Is Erykah right? Should young ladies around the world take the initiative to protect themselves from harm’s way or should the men in these schools rise up and stop looking at women as sex objects? Let us know what you think, roommates.
