Word on the street is that the Grammy award winner, Jennifer Hudson, will be taking her last bow on May 8th for her role on broadway for ‘The Color Purple.’
Hudson played Shug Avery and will be replaced by the ‘In My Mind’ songstress, Heather Headley. According to RWS, Hudson is leaving at one of the most opportune times though. Tony Award nominations go out
May 3rd and all of the people from out of town who vote during the Tony Awards won’t be able to see her performance.
Hudson does express how much she has enjoyed her time with the cast though. She states, “It’s an honor to be a part of an American classic that’s been dear to all of us in some way. We can all relate to the
characters in some way. I had never imagined myself in it, but I also couldn’t imagine thinking of a better show to make my Broadway debut in.”
No reports are out as to what the EXACT reason why Jennifer is leaving, but when we find out. We’ll enlighten you. Stay tuned.
