Baltimore School Officer Avoids Felony Charges After Student Assault Video Goes Viral!!

Looks like the Baltimore school officer caught on camera kicking and slapping a student early last month has avoided felony charges!

According to the NY Daily News, 44-year-old Anthony Spence will not be charged with felony child abuse following the incident. It is unclear why the charge was dropped but Spence says he will now try and get his job back at the school.

For those who did not see the tape, Spence, who was an officer at the REACH Partnership School, was videoed assaulting a student, yelling“Go the f— home! Get the f— out of here!” While the student was hospitalized for his injuries, the officer was suspended with pay.

Spence was also with a second officer, Saverna Bias, who stood there and did nothing as the student was being assaulted. One witness claims that she egged her partner on saying, “You need to smack him because he’s got too much mouth.”

Both officers now only face misdemeanor charges which includesecond-degree assault and misconduct in office charges.

Spence’s attorney, Warren Brown, is happy that the charges have been dropped but also blames the student for what happened that day.

“I think most people would be reviled or repulsed by the notion of being spat upon by anyone,” Brown said about the students starting the fight. “It’s a vile act that yields an emotional response.”
