Hell No: Tyler Perry Says No To Anti-Gay Bill In Georgia

As you all know, we reported the other day on how major companies in the state of Georgia are threatening to boycott the House Bill (HB) 575 if it is passed.

The Root has recently reported that while major companies like Disney, Netflix, and the NFL have banned together in the efforts to fight for equality – our favorite grandmother has too! Madea a.k.a. Tyler Perry!

The HB 575 has just been passed through the Georgia Assembly this past week and has plans on doing some major damage! According to The Root the bill aims to, “…provide that religious officials shall not be
required to perform marriage ceremonies in violation of their legal right to free exercise of religion.” And also, businesses have the right to NOT hire based solely on the fact that you’re gay!

On Friday, Tyler Perry Studios (which is based in Atlanta), released a statement in regards to their viewpoints on the current right to fight for equality.

“At Tyler Perry Studios, we believe in inclusion and equality for all people.” the spokesperson continues, “We do not tolerate bigotry, division and discrimination. We have tremendous confidence in Governor Deal’s leadership and ability to continue to lead our great state forward and urge him to veto this bill.”

Woo! That’s some tea for you, honey! Now, in the midst of all of this, the governor of Georgia, who was once a part of the Democratic Party but switched teams in 1995, Governor Deal, has the power to Veto this
bill and he has up until May 3rd to sign it. The better question is….will he do it?
