Metro Boomin Explains Where His “If Young Metro Doesn’t Trust You” Tag Came From!!

So we all know what happens if Young Metro doesn’t trust you, right? “They gon’ shoot you!” Ever wondered where the tag came from?!

If memory serves us right, it first popped up on Uncle Murda’s “Right Now” then on Drake and Future’s “Jumpman” and then again, and a bit more noticeably on Kanye’s “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1.”

Regardless of where you first heard it, you know the tag but did you know it was kind of an accident?! Well that’s according to Metro, who sat down with DJ Drama to discuss it.

“I’ve been using that as a tag in beats since about August,” he said.

If you hadn’t heard Uncle Murda’s song you may have initially heard it on “Jumpman” and assumed that’s where it debuted. BUT Metro says that Future first said it in his verse on Uncle Murda’s song and, “When he said that it had a different tone, but I remember when we were in the studio he had another tone, which is the one that’s the tag that was just like muted. I just made sure to go back on the session and just get it and just go HAM with it.”

As far as Kanye’s possession of the tag, Metro says he just couldn’t get enough of it during a session.

“I had a sense that he liked it,” he told Drama, “because we were in the studio before, and you know the Kanye dance he does when he’s doing his thing? he was just going crazy doing that and saying “Young Metro don’t trust you…”

Well there you have it, straight from the desk of Metro Boomin!
