President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama are booked to attend SXSW in Austin, Texas. They will both be giving keynote addresses, making them the first sitting president and first lady to attend the festival!
SXSW is a media, music and film festival that brings out tons of young talent and professionals looking for all the new trends, music and cutting edge technology. According to the SXSW, President Obama is participating in a keynote conversation with the CEO/Editor in Chief of the Texas Tribune on the first day of the festival and FLOTUS is expected to talk about her Let Girls Learn initiative on March 16. Her initiative aims to make education available for the more than 60 million girls around the world that are currently not in school.
The festival is known to be a fun time for a much younger crowd than the first family. Attendees basically take over the city of Austin and go from show to event to discussion. This event should be a fun time for both of them and the festival’s co-founder spoke out saying he couldn’t imagine a better way to celebrate the event’s 30th year.
