A 13-year-old boy in Florida has reportedly been arrested and charged after allegedly attempting to kidnap two women.
According to Inside Edition, the 13-year-old has been charged with “one count of attempted kidnapping.” The outlet did not reveal his identity. However, it did report that the boy is currently being held in a juvenile detention center in Fort Pierce.
Furthermore, the outlet shared that the boy may have experienced mental health issues and has not been charged as an adult.
Inside Edition reports that the alleged kidnapping incidents occurred on the evenings of July 2 and July 7. During both incidents, the boy allegedly was armed with a knife.
During the incident on July 7, the boy allegedly grabbed a woman from behind while she was standing on her porch.
“You’re not going to make a f*****g sound, do you understand?” he allegedly told her. “You’re coming with me.”
The woman reportedly defended herself by biting and kicking until she “fell” out of his grip.
According to CBS12, the July 2 incident was similar in nature. However, a separate incident, which had “not been previously reported,” was also recently brought to the attention of authorities.
The outlet reports that on June 29, a woman was walking her dog when she began feeling “uneasy.” The woman reportedly alleged that an individual followed her to her home. When she entered and closed the door behind her, she heard “banging.”
According to Fox 35 Orlando, the boy was taken into custody on Wednesday, July 10. This reportedly occurred after investigators released surveillance footage of the 13-year-old and received four tips in regard to his identity, per Inside Edition.
According to the outlet, Indian River County Sheriff Eric Flowers opened up about when the boy was taken into custody.
“He admitted, somewhat, that he was the guy who did this,” the sheriff explained. “He saw the [surveillance] video.”
CBS12 reports that the boy seemingly described the incidents as if they were out-of-body experiences.
“His story was that he felt that he was in a dream-like state, that he was watching himself from above,” Sheriff Flowers reportedly explained. “That he didn’t know if it was real.”
