Roommates, as the country continues to process the heartbreaking and unjust murder of George Floyd at the hands of a local Minneapolis, Minnesota police officer, many are finding ways to express their frustration and pay tribute. Young Keedron Bryant has gone viral after posting himself singing a heartfelt song about the realities of being a black man in America.
One of the best things about social media is that it not only brings light to injustices—but it also gives us the opportunity to find new talent that we should all know about. 12-year-old Keedron Bryant has officially taken social media by storm courtesy of his moving accapella song about being a young black man in America following George Floyd’s senseless murder.
In the one-minute clip, Keedron stares directly into the camera and sings his heart out, as his words bring about the memories of all the other black men and women who have died at the hands of police officers in recent years.
Keedron Bryant is also a rising young gospel artist from Jacksonville, Florida who has appeared on NBC’s reality talent competition series, “Little Big Shots.” Several A-list celebrities have shared his video, including Janet Jackson and Nas just to name a few.
Meanwhile, new video of the deadly encounter shows George Floyd being taken out of his vehicle and appearing to cooperate with police officers. The owner of the restaurant also told local news outlets that there was nothing on the video that his restaurant captured that showed he resisted arrest.
The original video that had social media distraught showed an officer with his knee on Floyd’s neck. After Floyd told officers he couldn’t breathe, he later became unresponsive and later died from his injuries.
We continue to keep George Floyd’s family and loved ones in our prayers.
