It’s never a good thing to hear when you hear about young ones being bullied, but a determined 10-year-old named, Egypt Ufele used her negative comments about her weight to uplift her creative juices! She channeled her energy into designing clothes for women of all sizes, including hers!
According to Vibe, Ufele, who also goes by the name of “Ify,” is only in the fifth grade and is taking the fashion industry by storm, as her designs were even featured during Fall 2016, NYFW! “I turned negative attention into positive attention,” said Ify. You Go Girl!!!
Ify’s designing label is called “Chubiline” and she describes it as “Bringing Africa to America one design at a time.”
Ify didn’t understand why she was chosen to be picked on out everyone else in her school, she says she would get called names constantly about her weight, and it even got so bad that a student attempted to stab her with a pencil!
It’s great to know that Ify won’t let insecure students interfere with her passion to change the world in the fashion world. Now she feels nothing but positive energy once others saw her work!
“People applaud me and tell me I’m good at fashion,” said Ify.
This is only the beginning for Ify, as she has many years ahead of her to continue building her fashion line to strengthen others who’ve may have faced bullying in their time too.
